Galvanic anode provides cathodic protection current
by means of self-dissolving in the corrosive medium when it
is electrically connected to the protected object. A galvanic
anode material should possesses following conditions:
1. Enough
negative and steady potential.
2. Low
anode polarization in work, dissolving uniformly, the corrosion
product may detach on its own.
3. High
current efficiency.
4. High
electrochemical equivalent
5. The
corrosion products is nonpoisonous, no pollution to the environment.
6. Cheap,
convenient sources.
The commonly used galvanic anode materials are zinc based, aluminium
based and magnesium based alloys. Their chemical compositions
and electrochemical performance are different, and then their
applicable environments are different.
