Qingdao Research Institute for Marine Corrosion
(QRIMC), a subsidiary of Central Iron and Steel Research Institute
(CISRI), is founded in 1975. It is located in Qingdao High-Tech
Park as one of the professional institutes engaged in marine
corrosion and protection. QRIMC is the coordinator unit and
central testing station of the state seawater corrosion testing
network and the key station of atmospheric corrosion testing
network. It is also the coordinator in China for the international
standard organization metal corrosion commission ( ISO/TC156
). QRIMC is engaged in the basic study and application of new
technology of marine corrosion science.
QRIMC is well equipped with standard testing facilities for
seawater, atmospheric exposure, electrochemical analysis, chemical
analysis, etc. QRIMC has been undertaking the major project
of China National Natural Science Foundation ˇ°Data accumulation
& basic research of corrosion of materials in natural environments
of Chinaˇ±since 1980. Database of sea water corrosion and atmospheric
corrosion in China has been created by QRIMC. Hundreds papers
and a book ˇ°The ocean corrosion and protection of metal materialsˇ±
have been published, More than 10 state and province science
and technology progress prizes have been awarded.
In the wave of the reform of the country, QRIMC is speeding
up the conversion of scientific research results to practical
applications.
QRIMC has studied and produced various kinds of galvanic anodes.
Our high efficiency bracelet style aluminium galvanic anode
has reached the international advanced level, obtaining the
state patent (patent number 93 2 10383 9). The workshop of QRIMC
has two 110KVA and 350Kg induction furnaces and one 60KVA crucible
furnace. The annual production capacity is 2000T of aluminium
galvanic anode, 4000T of zinc galvanic anode and 1000T of magnesium
galvanic anode. The galvanic anode products of QRIMC are not
merely used domestically for harbor, wharf, ships, ocean oil
rigs, power plant, refinery, chemical factory and underground
pipelines, etc., but also sold abroad to Singapore, Japan, and
American etc.
Since 1987, QRIMC has been engaging on the corrosion and protection
engineering for seaside power plants. Customers include: Tianjin
Dagang Power Plant, Zhanjiang Power Plant, Shenzhen Mawan Bay
And The Western Power Plant, and Zhangzhou Houshi Power Plant,
etc. Large quantity of experience for the corrosion and protection
of the seaside power plants has been accumulated and the relevant
technology and designing has been improved. The anticorrosion
and antifouling project of Tianjin Dagang Power Plant was appraised
by the Ministry of Metallurgy in 1991, and a third prize of
scientific and technological progress was awarded. QRIMC earned
the qualification of second-grade construction enterprise for
anticorrosion and heat preservation in 1990.
Apart from the projects of sea side power plants, QRIMC is also
working with the corrosion protection engineering projects of
offshore oil rigs, natural gas and gas pipelines, docks at harbor,
storing tanks, etc.
QRIMC has developed into a enterprise integrating scientific
research, production and engineering from a simple scientific
research unit. Our technology and products are widely used in
various fields. |
